Description
This is my first aquarium and my first application to a contest. I have made a heavily planted aquarium in the Dutch aquascaping style. Inspired by old aquascaping books about Dutch-style tanks, written by my late grandfather who used to be a well known Dutch-style aquascaper and contest judge.

I mostly complied with the aquascaping rules set by the NBAT (national Dutch Society for Aquarists) for Dutch style aquariums. I have avoided planting plants with similar leaf types next to each other, use only 1 species per 10cm of length, plant in vertical 'lanes' and cut plants in the front lower than the plants in the back (which are also planted higher on sloped substrate). I have also focused on stem plants and did not duplicate species in different groups.
