Description
Lost World” is a tribute to the power of nature to reclaim its space, even in the depths of a forgotten world. Inspired by moss-covered temperate forest landscapes, this layout employs a tunnel composition, with intertwined roots and driftwood gently guiding the viewer’s gaze toward a light-filled vanishing point, evoking the sensation of a portal to the unknown.

The foreground, with sand, stones, and a well-balanced plant selection, creates a natural feel, giving way to a midground where an open clearing becomes the stage for a lush carpet of Hemianthus callitrichoides (Cuba), which takes center stage.

Visual impact was sought through the use of large pieces of wood, including the one crossing the upper part of the aquarium, allowing Monte Carlo to cascade down like tears, as well as the large grapevine roots that provide a strong structural presence.

Achieving great depth in the background was essential, with a play of roots and rocks guiding the eye toward the fully illuminated vanishing point.

Lighting has been carefully designed to create light and shadow contrasts that enhance the three-dimensionality of the layout, highlighting a cave area on the right side of the aquarium, while a school of Paracheirodon innesi adds ethereal dynamism to the scene as they swim toward the cave.

A stable CO₂ system and carefully controlled pH and KH levels ensure compact, healthy plant growth, maintaining aesthetic consistency throughout the preparation for the contest.

Lost World represents the connection between art and nature, demonstrating that even within a confined space, life can thrive in harmony, conveying serenity and admiration to those who behold it.”
