The European Aquatic Plants Layout Contest (EAPLC) evaluates entries based on a comprehensive scoring system designed to recognize both technical excellence and creative artistry.

1. Total Impression (Up to 95 Points – 90%)

This primary assessment focuses on the overall quality and impact of the aquascape, considering the following elements:

  • Plant Health and Growth: Vitality, maintenance, and natural appearance of aquatic plants.
  • Hardscape Composition: Integration and balance of rocks, wood, and other structural elements.
  • Layout Longevity: Sustainability and long-term viability of the aquascape design.
  • Photographic Presentation: Clarity, lighting, and composition of the submitted images.
  • Invertebrate Integration: Appropriate selection and harmony of invertebrate species within the layout.

2. Extra Points (Up to 5 Points – 10%)

Additional points are awarded by specialized jury members for outstanding achievements in specific areas:

  • Plant Expertise: Up to 2 points for exceptional plant selection and arrangement.
  • Photographic Skill: Up to 2 points for superior photography techniques enhancing the aquascape's presentation.
  • Creative Innovation: Up to 1 point for unique and original design concepts.

Each entry is evaluated by a panel of international judges, ensuring a diverse and balanced assessment.
